About the Webstories |
Warning: Inappropriate Language, Mild Violence/Gore A satirical and utterly ridiculous tale about four close friends who have almost nothing in common. And that's not because one of them is a witch, the others: a werewolf, a zombie, and a vampire. At times their distinct personalities clash, but their loyalty to one another remains immutable through thick and thin. Their unlikely bond baffles much of the supernatural community, and infuriates even more. But contending with the narrow-minded folk of contemporary Earth pales in comparison to the magical realm the four discover after coming upon a mysterious gateway hidden deep in the woods amidst the overgrown foliage. And run-on sentences; those are there, too...
Outside, the gateway is a seemingly typical wooden outhouse complete with a half moon carved into the door. Inside the privy, a dark portal filled with stars is accessible only to the supernaturally inclined. By stepping through that portal, the traveler is sent to a magical realm known as Heart. After numerous trips back and forth through the portal potty, the friends eventually familiarize themselves with the realm of Heart. An unusually modern lifestyle with Atlantean-like technology, and yet structurally medieval with heavy magical influences, Heart is a place where Camilla Ashworth (the witch) feels very much at home. With her alchemy skills and knowledge of all things ancient and magical, Cam eventually sets up shop in the flourishing cobblestoned town, Fairwynn Port. Her shop, The Shady Nook, is filled with spells, potions, and all manner of magical items. Life on Heart seems like a dream come true for the companions; the existence of supernatural beings isn't concealed and believed only to be myth like on Earth. But the dream soon fades into nightmare when a dark and mighty being begins to taint the lands. The dark being is a ruthless and power hungry warlock known as Demise, or as his lesser-known given name: Clyde.
As much of Heart stands idly by---crippled by fear and self-doubt---it takes the strength and courage of supernatural outsiders to unite and stand up to Demise and try to bring an end to his rising oppression... Just as soon as they can all agree on where to eat dinner. Read the Story |
Warning: Inappropriate Language, Mild Violence/Gore Yet another satirical and utterly ridiculous tale about four friends who have barely a thing in common. A swashbuckling demigod, a young scholar of linguistics, a radiant sea nymph with a surprisingly terrible singing voice, and a burly copper-haired bladesmith all set off on a grand adventure to obtain a highly sought after treasure known as the golden Blade of Bastet. And maybe a run-on sentence or two...
Acquiring the magical sword will not be an easy task, as it is guarded by two jackal-headed demons in the realm of the dead. It is known as the Underlands, where the goddess Bastet is sovereign to all who dwell there. Many difficulties stand between the adventurers and the blade. The most obvious one of all being: passage into the Underlands is granted only to those who are no longer alive. And despite Osiris Helwan (the demigod) being Bastet's son, not even he is allowed to enter the Underlands until his own life is snuffed out.
Thankfully, their scholar of linguistics also happens to be a dabbler of studies involving magic and spells. With his knowledge, and the help of a skilled bladesmith, an instrument of magic can be forged that will allow Osiris into the Underlands without paying the ultimate price. The blood of Bastet is needed for the scholar to perform the spell properly. Normally that would have proven to be a more daunting endeavor, if Osiris did not share that same blood. Unfortunately, the spell requires another ingredient not easy to come by: fetrine, which can be extracted from rare ore deposits found in the ominous western range of Mount Death.
If the companions succeed on their arduous journey to obtain the ingredient needed for the scholar's spell, Osiris will gain passage into the Underlands where he will come face-to-face with the jackal-headed demons that guard the golden Blade of Bastet. Even if Osiris proves victorious in his fight against the demons, he must still face his mother's wrath. Read the Story |
